Aboveground Storage Tank Inspection Sr. Assistant / NDT Level I (UT) and Architectural Drafting Technician

Freedom Tank Inspection, LLC seeks a highly motivated person interested in being taught a trade in the Above-ground Storage Tank inspection industry. This mid-level position will provide opportunities for advancement within the company in its Lakeland, FL, office.  The technician will be under the direct supervision of a certified API inspector and Level II NDT technician.  Experience in an industrial setting is preferred but not required.  Successful candidates will be encouraged to expand their skills and certifications through company-provided training and mentoring.

Candidates must be flexible in their work schedule and possess the ability to work in field environments in the US and possibly abroad for the Water, Oil, and Gas industries.

Job Duties:

  • Perform or assist in ultrasonic, magnetic particle, liquid penetrant, and visual inspections on aboveground storage tanks
  • Prepare “as-built” drawings of inspected tanks to be included in the final report using AutoCad
  • Fill out daily inspection reports and documentation as required
  • Organize and report test results
  • Prepare reports and other work-related documents in a timely and accurate manner
  • Understand and utilize safe work practices
  • Ensuring strict adherence to industrial safety and health guidelines
  • Perform other job-related tasks as assigned by management

Minimum Requirements:

  • Must have NDE Level I certification minimum in UT, Level II a plus, with adequate, documented experience hours as required by ASNT-TC-1A Standard.
  • A clean driving record with a valid driver’s license to operate a company vehicle. Employer conducts Motor Vehicle Record checks.
  • Employer conducts periodic drug test screenings
  • Employer conducts  federal, state, and local background check
  • Occasional heavy lifting – objects up to approximately 100 lbs
  • Climb fixed ladders up to approximately 75 ft.
  • Able to work in confined spaces with small openings
  • Ability to keep comprehensive, neat, and organized notations of observed conditions
  • Ability to understand and operate electronic equipment
  • Ability to travel up to 80% of the time (some short notice), including overnights and possible weekends
  • Ability to travel internationally
  • Ability to work and stand for extended periods in indoor and outdoor environments
  • Maintain a professional appearance with a positive presentation
    Possess good communication skills and relationship-building with colleagues and clients
  • A strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Dependable and reliable with a strong work ethic
  • Exceptional safety and quality work awareness
  • TWIC badge or ability to obtain a TWIC badge
  • Passport or ability to obtain a passport
  • Knowledge of AutoCAD or similar computer-aided drafting (CAD) programs a plus
  • Tank and/or pipeline inspection experience is a plus
