Assistant Radiographer (RT)
Description
Summary of Description:
The Assistant Radiographer will report directly to their assigned supervisor who will establish clear expectations in terms of work quality, efficiency, and technical development. This position will require candidate to assist the Technician with day-to-day radiographic operations, such as setting up exclusionary boundary zones, moving equipment where needed, completing radiographs, and obtain on the job training for technical development and certification.
Duties:
– Actively assist in radiography and other Nondestructive Testing operations to ensure a quality and safe work product is obtained.
– Be self-motivated, take direction, and always perform tasks safely
– Capable of following industrial radiation and general safety procedures set forth by the Company, State, and Federal governing bodies.
– Maintain and control safe work practices made necessary by the Company, State, and Federal regulations.
– Effectively meet project schedules outlined by Operations Management.
– Maintain and promote a positive attitude while on projects.
– Answer call outs to assist the Inspection department after regular shift or on the weekend.
– Travel as needed.
– Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:
High School diploma or equivalent (G.E.D) and an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above.
Licensing Requirements:
– Valid Driver’s License as per State law or requirement.
– Must have a valid TWIC.
– Required to pass or have already passed a 40-hour Industrial – Radiography Safety Course.
– Prefer qualified applicants to possess a State Trainee Card designation.
– Prefer qualified applicants to possess a State Radiographer’s Card and/or IRRSP Card.
Specific Skills:
– MS Office, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel & Outlook
– Familiarity of nondestructive testing method basics
– Knowledge of nondestructive testing equipment is preferred
– Ability to work as part of a team.
– Ability to follow directions and procedures.
– Effective communication skills; verbal, written and interpersonal.
– Knowledge in application and compliance requirements of regulatory codes (OSHA, EPA, etc.)
Physical Requirements:
– Ability to walk up to one mile on industrial plant and construction sites outdoors at any time of the year.
– Ability to work in protective clothing which may elevate body temperatures by several degrees Fahrenheit for periods of up to 15 minutes without a break.
– Ability to use multi-level stair towers and rung ladders unassisted.
– Ability to work in confined or enclosed spaces as needed.
– Ability to hear safety alarms and signals while wearing hearing protection.
– Ability to sit at desk and operate computer for extended periods of time.
– Ability to stand, use hands and fingers, grip, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl; and talk and hear.
– Ability to see with visual acuity and distinguish between colors.
– Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
– Ability to operate a motor vehicle and have a valid driver’s license.
– Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs. on a regular basis is required and at times lifting to 75 lbs. may be required.
