Job Title:
Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) – Highway Component Manufacturing, Light Structural or Equivalent

Position Overview:
QMF Steel is seeking a highly qualified Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) with extensive knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Steel Codes to support our manufacturing operations. The ideal candidate will bring proven experience in welding inspection, quality assurance, and compliance monitoring, with preference given to individuals who have worked with the manufacturing of custom and customer specific products in steel, stainless and aluminum. This is a key quality-focused role responsible for ensuring that all structural components meet strict industry, project, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Perform inspections and verification of welds in compliance with AWS D1.1 and other standards including customer and project specifications.
Write, maintain and audit WPS/PQR’s.
Ensure all welding activities comply with state and federal regulations.
Perform welder qualification test and continuity tracking.

Review engineering drawings, welding symbols and technical specifications to verify accuracy and compliance.
Prepare detailed inspection reports, maintain accurate quality documentation including CAR, DMR, NCR, CI reports.
Collaborate with all stakeholders to identify best practices and mitigate welding-related issues.
Provide guidance and training to welding personnel to maintain code compliance.
Enforce company and industry safety standards at all times.
Qualifications and Requirements:

AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) – current and active certification required.
Demonstrated expertise with AWS D1.1 Structural Steel Codes.
Minimum 2 years of relevant inspection experience.
Ability to understand and implement inspection processes, compliance standards and documentation as required.
Strong technical ability to review and interpret drawings, codes and welding symbols.
Performed audits for ISO9001:2015 and/or AISC

Managed KPI’s in key departments for continuous improvement

Excellent written and verbal communication skills for reporting and collaboration.
Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality and safety.

Bonus for QMF and Candidate:

Knowledge of production equipment capabilities, powder coating requirements, equipment amperage usage, Buy America / Domestic material compliance, Automated robot welding, DOT welding compliance.

Schedule & Pay:

Full-time position.
